memory problem

I have tried to put 256 SDRam on my packard bell computer which at present only has 64mb, it slots in fine (I only have 2 slots) and clicks into place but when I reboot, windows is still only saying I have 64mb. I bought it from PC World and got them to check it was the right memory for my computer before I bought it which they said it was. What am I doing wrong?

You need to put the 256 into the first slot, the one your 64 is in at the moment, and then the 64 in the second slot, if that doesn't work come back to us in this thread.

Thanks mikef I will try that and come back to you.

I have done that and it has rebooted but still says only 64mb any suggestions?

Try putting the 256 module in first slot by itself and see what happens................Could always be a duff module?.

Highly probable.
