Memory not visible on Belarc or Crucial sys scan

I have a Pentium 4 pc running XP SP2 with 1gb of memory on board. My graphics card is a 128mb and I have two hard drives each partitioned into 2 with a total of 320gb of hard drive space.

When I run Belarc or Crucial system scanners that indicate how much memory on which bay etc neither seems to able to pick up how much memory is on board or how it is located. I am sure that when I first ran Belarc it did detect the memory and say how it was spread across the bays but that was about 18 months ago. Any ideas on how I can get these system scans to recognise the memory on my pc?

Thanks in advance for your help.
