Memory Card Not recognised

  prb 11:05 02 Jun 07

We have just returned from 2 weeks holiday - now to download the 100+ pictures taken. Unfortunately turning on the camera I get a message 'unsupported card' displayed, inserting the card into the card reader of my laptop recognises that there is a card in the reader, but when I try to access it it I'm asked to insert drive!

Can anyone help or suggest anything? Are there companies who might specialise in retrieval of data from cards?

Card in a 256MB Kingston SD

Retrieval service:

I have no experience of them; may be worth a call. No charge if they cannot retrieve your files.

Woodchip posted a program to retrieve lost pictures from a flash drive. Have a search on the forum it may work

Woodchip`s programme is called Campicrestor.

If you need it I have a copy. If you want to try it, send me a personal message, (with your e-mail address), and I will forward it to you. It`s about 580k.

Windows as to be able to see the Card before any software will see the Photos. It looks like the Card Reader Drivers need reloading. Or plug the Camera into the USB socket, let the Camera do the work. You may also need to load the Camera Drivers as XP will not pickup all cameras
