How to get Windows 10 for free | How to install Windows 10: There is still a way to avoid paying…
OK so you can buy 512mb 3200 memory from £50 to £100 and maybe more.
You can buy Crucial, Micron, Kingston, Cosair etc
Then you can buy twin or matched.
In the mags they say add more ram get more speed
They don’t say get Kingston its faster than micron, or whatever.
So when is ram not the same ram? When it is ram!
And why is 1024mb of ram more expensive than 1536mb of ram (1x1024 / 3x512)
I guess that as in the rest of the world you get what you pay for, but what do you get?
So is 512mb of ram 512mb of ram or is it faster than 512mb of ram?
Do you see what I mean?
As you can see I have entered the mysterious world of memory, and it is a little confusing.
What is the best?
The best value?
And where from?
Any experts out there?
what's of primary importance is that you get the right memory for your motherboard - make a mistake with this and you'll have a computer that won't work properly at best, or won't boot at all at worst.
If you're unsure about which type of RAM to buy, go to your motherboard manufacturer's web site, or ask a specialist RAM supplier like
click here They have an online memory advisor which enables you to select the right RAM for your particular computer, and if you need more help they'll provide it over the phone.
Hi Forum Editor & Clint2,
Thank you for your replies,
Sorry For the delay in responding - have been unwell.
The Crucial Memory Advisor does not have my PC and could not detect exactly what I need, but I no that the memory I have is a 512Meg Module PC 3200 and my main board is a Asus K8VSEDX. I have found these on Crucial but still a little confusing.
Crucial offer a selection Priced from £72 to £96
1/ 1DDR PC3200 CL=3 Unbuffered Non-parity DDR400 2.6V 64Meg x 64
2/ DDR PC3200 CL=3 Unbuffered ECC DDR400 2.6V 64Meg x 72
4/ DDR PC3200 CL=3 Registered ECC DDR400 2.6V 64Meg x 72
Also found on another site cosair memory
