I have a computer with AMD Athlon 1.7 CPU and, supposedly, 512Mb RAM.

The computer is only recognising 240Mb of memory.

I would be grateful if anyone has any ideas about how I can get the thing to recognise all the memory.

Do you have 1 x 512 or 2 x 256? If you have 2 sticks of memory check to make sure they are both seated properly.

Thanks, I'm not sure about the number of sticks. I didn't think it would be that though as the computer is recognising 240Mb memory and I would have thought that if the sticks are not seated properly, it would recognise either half or none. I'll have a look and check though.

True, but the other missing 16mb could be used as shared memory with your graphics card?

OK thanks for that bit of info. I'll have a look tonight when i get home from work.
