Mega Problems

I have just built a new pc, with the following installed :

1. Gigabyte P35C-DS3R motherboard
2. NVidia XFX GeForce 8600GT PCI-E graphics card
3. 2 x 1gb sticks of Corsair PC6400 DDR2 memory
4. Intel Q6600 processor

The problem is that when I start to install Windows Vista, the screen sometimes goes blank and I cannot get it back until I reboot + on occasions get a long continious beep, the system freezes. Any ideas ?

Beeps when a system is running (though not when booting) are normally due to voltage problems, temperature problems, or fan-speed issues.

Is the PSU high enough capacity for your new build?

I read it as beep on reboot ocasionally.

If beeping when running after post the probably temperature, thermal paste applied?

Yes, thermal Arctic paste is applied, and the temperature in Bios is 29c.

Is there any setting in the Bios that I can apply for the memory / pci express card.

I have now managed to get Vista installed but it still freezes with the occasional long beep + the screen keeps going off.

Have I got a dud graphics card / motherboard?

If the screen goes off too - it sounds like a PSU issue to me.

What PSU have you got?

Is there a power connector on the graphics card, and have you connected it to the PSU?

Upgraded the motherboard to F10 and it is sorted, touch wood !
