media player won't open in administrator account

I have windows vista, media player has been operating fine up until a few days ago. Now it won't open at all in the administrator account - which is the one I use, it opens okay in other non administrator accounts. Also media center opens okay but will not play music files. I also installed Microsoft Money and when I run the program - which works fine - I get a message saying there is an update but I need to log off and back on as an administrator to install it - I am already logged on as an administrator! - I suspect these 2 issues are connected. I know I can create another account without administrator settings and use that for media player but it will be a bit of a pain. Any ideas?
Thanks

In Vista some programs will only run if you right click, and select administrator.

This may help with part of your problem.

Thanks, yes it will run when right clicking and selecting "run as aministrator" so I can run okay now - I am wondering how this setting has come about and if I can reverse it - system restore won't do it.

You can try right click
properties
short cut
advanced
see what's ticked, and try altering it.
