Media player no DVD burner

  Charlitax 10:24 10 May 08

Hi, I'm running Windows Media player 11 on my laptop and when I want to burn a cd or dvd media player tells me to connect a dvd burner. It does read and play discs. I am running Windows XP and can burn discs using other programs. Anyone help please.

Have you enabled CD recording for the drive. Right click on the drive in explorer and select properties, then choose recording and see if the box is ticked.

Or try the Tools/options menu in MP.

You can only burn CDs; you need WMP11 and Vista to burn DVDs.

CD recording is enabled. I can burn cd's from other programs and media player does recognise the drive when playing cd's but not when i want to burn, for instance, a playlist.

as Stuartli has stated, you will need seperate burning software, to burn a dvd in XP.
