Media Event Sink Window

This is starting to annoy me ... am I picking something up while surfing or is there something resident on my machine ??.. if I close IE,(I usually get cheesed off 'cos my-broadband-connection has gone sluggish) I find that any Progs like Photoshop, Word etc are very slow to open and use. I then check for problems with Spybot and Adaware (they take ages) but no critical defects are detected.However, if I then restart my machine and rerun Spybot, my machine seems to be back to normal, until I start surfing again etc ... the only 'anomally to normal working is, on shutdown, the machine is very slow and get a warning window that informs me about 'Media Event Sink Window'shutting down and an option to 'end now' which I take

A third party may have affected MS Media Player.
