Media codecs on media player

Hi All,

for the two computers that i have at home, there are some media files that i can play in one but can't play in the other. i do notice that media will occassionally search for the codec in the internet and download them, but often than not that the same media file can't be play on one of the machines.

where will i be able to find out what codec is installed in the machines? and also how do i makesure the media player can play the files or somewhere that i can download all the codecs i require?

many thanks.

If you go to Microsoft there is a codec pack you can download but I would suspect you need some divx/xvid codecs
