is media centre an os n its own or does it needs to be installed with xp pro/home???

  Haol 19:11 29 May 06

Windows Media Centre is an OS on it's own, it's practically Windows XP with Media Centre.

apart from the obvious difference will it run just like xp pro/home,are there any hardware config that should be made???

Depends on what hardware you are talking about. Monitors, printers and scanners, etc connect as with XP Pro.

If you want to watch televsion and stuff then you are going to need a tv tuner card but apart from that they run the same.

According to Microsoft's website, Media Centre Edition only comes installed with new PCs and is not available as an upgrade or new OS.
