McAfee VirusScan Pro V7 and excessive boot up time

  Mikera 18:02 06 Sep 03

Recently installed VscanPro7 and few weeks later took an update. Since then PC takes over 10 minutes to boot, starts to boot with 'DOS' screen display, memory check etc, then sits for more than 10 minutes with Windows98 flash screen. eventually all works well. Tried reducing the levels of scanning and removed junk files etc, but made no difference. Finally removed VScan and PC now boots in a few minutes. Running Windows98, 850MHz processor, 30GHz HDD with approx 5GHz used. Any ideas please?

I uncheck VirusScan in the Start up menu and just click on the Desktop icon when Windows has loaded.
