McAfee site advisor

This seemed to suddenly be inoperative this morning, running with Firefox.
I uninstalled it and then installed the latest version - which took ages to complete. It now seems to work as well as the last one, but now there's an address box thing alongside the green McAfee button at the bottom of the screen. Does anyone know if this, together with the big red 'M' and a magifying glass can be removed!

Maybe try WOT.It does the same as McAfee.click here

That's interesting buteman, didn't know about WOT.
I've been using McAfee site advisor for a while and I've got used to it so I'll just stick with it. The 'M' etc I'll get used to I expect!

Mines the same

Hi tullie.
Right then, that confirms that nothing went haywire with my installation - always a possibility with me!
I'll just accept it now. I'll mark this resolved.
Many thanks.

There are two versions of McAfee Site Advisor - the correct one for your browser is downloaded when you visit its website.

If you have IE and, say, Firefox on your system you have to do them separately.

Firefox's Site Advisor section is just above the Notification tray and top left in IE.

If I am correct I think you mean the search address box. This can be switched off by means of clicking the little black arrow next to the green McAfee SiteAdvisor box in the bottom R/H corner.Click on "Search Settings" and remove the tick from the box. I think you have to restart the computer to make the change.
