McAfee re suspect files pop-up

  Doonie 20:34 07 Sep 06

Hi, Recently I had a pop-up from McAfee saying I had a suspect file, so I scanned and one was found, which I deleted. Since then every time I log on to my computer I get the same message, but when I've repeatedly scanned to make sure I find everything's OK. Does anyone know how I can stop this message appearing every time. Many thanks.

Has this file been quarrantined,if so delete it.

Right click Mcafee icon in system tray/Virusscan/manage quarantined files/highlight and delete.

Is it by any chance related to an Email,if so delete the email also.

Also make sure your recycle bin is empty.

If this does not help you, post back.

If possible you have the file name.

Hope this helps.

Hi Skidzy, thanks for replying. As I deleted the file is doesn't show under list of quarantined items. Should I have quarantined it first? The file name was "window/system32/ntsystem.exe" A message somewehere else told me it was a "Generec AdClicker.d" It doesn't mean anything to me. Also, "New Malware.j" cropped up somewhere. Any help? Thanks, Doonie.
