Maxtor One Touch - reformat message

  dilbar 18:08 07 May 07

Loads of photos and other files on my Maxtor One Touch but although previously used via USB on Win ME PC it cannot be found. And on my XP laptop it appears as a separate drive but I get the message that it needs reformatting when I try to access it. I tried Mediarecover unsuccessfully.

Looking, belatedly, at the instructions this can happen if left running when the computer goes onto standby if set to do so for energy saving.

Any chance I can retrieve files?
