Maxtor One Touch - not recognised by computer

My Maxtor one touch is no longer recognised by my computer. The light is on, but when I connect it via USB to my cvomputer, it's as if I haven't. When I tip the one touch devide up, I can hear something very small rattling about inside. Is my device doomed?

CAn you see it in Device manager or Disk manager?

You can open up the device and see what is loose, as long as the part is not from the hard drive but just from the case then you can place the drive in another enclosure and get at all your files.
