hi, yesterday i successfully :) installed my new Maxtor 160 gb HD in my pc. i already have a 80gb hd (that shows as 75gb. ?)
problem is that my new hd shows as 128gb after partitioning... ive never done this before and am happy its in and working but what happened to the other 32gb?!! i used the manager wizard to partition and did everything standard. how do i get the other 32 gb? thanks. running xp and all bits less than 12months old. i'll be happy for any info !

Your 160 GB HD should show up as around 145 GB, so theres still some missing

Assuming you've got XPSP1,you also need to install the Maxtor Big drive Enabler - available from there downloads page. This ensures that Windows "sees" voulumes larger than 137gb.

After formatting in NTFS,my Maxtor 160gb drives show as just over 152gb.

as some have a max limit for hdd recognition of about 130gb but without knowing make and model of motherboard i cant tell you.

Is this the same HDD you had trouble installing yesterday?[although it seems to have mysteriously grown overnight from 120 to 160 gbs].

If it is, could you please tick that thread resolved as folk think you're still having problems and are wasting their time posting possible solutions.
