i have unistalled linux from my dual boot system so i now just run win xp pro. linux has gone and the partitioned has been merged and then formatted so i now only have c drive and d drive

but when i start up my computer i still get the boot up screen from mandrake asking me if i want to boot to windows or linux

how can i get rid of this?

use a boot floppy, boot from it and type fdisk /mbr

i have tried what it said in the links i booted into safe mode with command prompt and goto c:\ and typed fdisk /mbr and i got an error that fdisk is not valid command.

when my system boots up i see the normal screen then it says boot from lilo and the mandrake menu comes up. how can i just bypass this lilo thing?

sorry i am a bit of a novice

If so, boot from it, when it has finished loading press R to launch the recovery console. Type the administrator password (just press enter if you don't have one), then you will be at a command prompt. type fix /mbr (or fix mbr or /fix mbr, can't remember!) it will ask you to confirm. This will write over the Linux bootloader with the default Windows one, deleting it. Then type exit/restart/reboot (again, I can't remember!) to restart.
