My browser is Firefox. The home page is I do an intial search in Google. I then open a new tab to do a different search and the page appears. Often this page does not produce many meaningful search results.

How can I adjust my settings so that the page appears each time I open a new tab?

I would run a scan with Superantispyware and /or Malawarebytes.

If you are using FF13 it could be something to do with the new tab feature. Google for it as the info is quite.... amusing.

I found and in the comments underneath instructions to edit the about:config to alter the new tab thingy.
