I have nothing but trouble wih this program locking up. Latest version just re-installed but still locked up overnight. I run it overnight because it takes hours to do a scan. When I come back in the morning it is minimized to the taskbar. On restoring I just get a small box with the "expansion" control and the "closing" button on it. This does nothing at all so I have to stop it using Task Manager.

I'm removing the program so is there anything as good as it is(when it works!).

Running Windows Vista Basic, Micrsoft security essentials and Spywareblaster.

I use Malwarebytes and it scans very quickly without any problem (minutes). I also use Superantispyware which is very good too. Spywareblaster is good to have running in the background.

Malwarebytes can sometimes get compromised and not work correctly .Try this newish kid on the block Hitman Pro 30 day trial and it will remove anything that it works very fast so well worth a try.

IMHO Malwarebytes is the best! I have the paid-for version.

Removed Malwarebytes and cleaned the registry with CCleaner. It found a lot of references to Malwarebytes still there. Just downloaded SuperAntispyware and it's running now. Many thanks for your help everyone.
