I am using Windows XP Home. Recording music tracks to disk from a tape deck using Roxio ECD 5 works fine. The track play back great using Steinberg Clean and also Creative Recorder. Windows Media Player refuses to play the tracks - 'unsuported format' The files all show as .wav files. What gives?

In Media Player, Tools/Options, File Types tab, check that Windows audio file (wav) is ticked.

That was a pretty quick response!
Yes the .wav file box is ticked.

what version of wmp?

I am using version 9.00.00.3128. Audio CD's work fine. Opening the General Tab in properties on a file it shows the file type as 'Wave Sound' but in the Summary Tab it shows the Audio Format as PCM - is this correct?

My version of Clean saves projects as CPF, whatever that is. Perhaps you need to save the processed tracks some other way, possibly by exporting or copy instead of save?

I will explore saving? files in Clean although Clean does play the files saved to disk through EasyCd 5. I am going to download WinAmp and see if that works. Thanks all for your advice, I may come back later with this.
