Making a desktop & laptop work together

  sarahgh 17:07 01 Apr 03

I have a desktop with windows xp (home), office xp pro & quickbooks.
I would like to buy a laptop and be able to input information to either and connect them to update info.
How do i do it?
Do i need more than one copy of the software?
& what do i need to buy to make it all work?
All advice and recommendations greatly appreciated

as for the copies of software i think you would need a copy for each machine, but it may depend on the license you have !

as for connecting them, you could use a laplink cable but in my opinion a bit slow ! so id use a network connection !
an ethernet card in the desktop and a PCMCIA ethernet adaptor for the laptop and then a cable between ! with xp they recognise each other nicely !!!

hope this helps

the laplink with USB is quite fast and the software is easy to setup so it synchronises the folders you specify. In other words, you change the contents on one machine, and its reflected on the other.
