making AVG connect to the internet

Problem that I think I had a long time ago so I can't remember the solution: how to get AVG to connect to the internet when you click the update button. I recently installed AVG 7.5 on a friend's PC and when he clicks the update button he gets a message that tells him to go to the website.
I thought it was a setting in the installation process, but either it isn't or I bypassed that during the installation.

My AVG 8 updates with no problems, if I go into the tools menu then choose Advanced settings, I get the below shown when I go into UPDATE (this is down the left hand side at the bottom, it may be worth altering your friends to the same settings that are shown in the below picture. I am on broadband (ADSL).

Also, if your friend's computer is running a firewall, it might be a good idea to check that it isn't blocking access to AVG update.

Also in the update section, I have the below URL's entered (I did not enter these, they were already there when I installed AVG 8).

ARRRR, here goes again.

http: // update.avg.com/softw/80/update/

http: // backup.avg.cz/softw/80/update/

You will need to remove the spaces in the above URL's
