i was wondering if there was anyway that i could tweak my machine to get the optimal performance from it without overclocking or upgrading any further

stop the non essentials starting on switch on - start - run - msconfig - top right tab [startup] and take the tick out of all the boxes except your virus checker and firewall if fitted. Another simple thing is to get rid of all the fonts you dont use often - move them to another folder.
