Make A Slave into a Master

  Sim372 12:15 27 Jun 04

I have a Master drive of 2GB and a slave of 8GB
my master is a FUJITSU..... and my slave is a WDCWDIO2AA....

Is there any way of making the slave into the master without opening my computer, Im not technicly minded.

You have to alter the jumper settings on both Hard Drives.

I'm sorry but no. The decision as to which drive is the master and which is the slave is decided by a little metal clip which goes over the pins of a drive, this tells the Bios of your computer which is which. Its not really hard to swop them over, but you would either need to "clone" your drive to move the operating system or do a complate reinstall.

Is this something I could do myself or will I need to take it to a shop.

You can easily do it yourself but one question, have you ever had to blank your computer and reinstall everything? Swopping the hard drives over is very simple its the reinstalling the operating system thats likely to cause you a few problems if you've never done it before.

I have reinstalled everything before.
