Mail delays and failures

I have recently had a few mail delivery failures and also a delay, they have all been to people in Florida, where there has been a lot of hurricane activity and electrical problems, although the people I am sending to do have power. Is it likely to be connected to the power problems generally or what are the causes of mail delivery problems?

Thanks

Your friends may have power, but maybe their ISPs are having problems (the ISP might be anywhere). If the ISP has a (temporary) problem that will delay the email, or may even, on occasions, lose it completely.

another thought: you say they have power; but are their phone lines working?

They use different ISP's, AOL and Earthlink and their phone is fine
