Help! When I try to start in safe Mode I'm given a choice of OS's These are 'Windows XP Home or Windows Defualt. When I choose windows xp home an erro says 'WINDOWS COULD NOT START BECAUSE OF THE FOLLOWING FILE IS MISSING OR CORRUPT WINDOWS ROOT>/SYSTEM32/HAL.DLL. PLEASE REINSTALL THE FOLLOWING FILE' Help! When I choose the other OS the computer turns itself off.
Specs are:
2GHz Sepron CPU
256MB RAM (A little low)
80GB HDD

You need to run sfc /scannow to repair/replace the file click here ( I know that SiteAdvisor gives it a caution but this is only for the YouTube download; no problem reading the `how to` files).

There may also be a problem with boot.ini click here but see how you get on with the above first.
