Lost wireless connection

We have the main computer and then 2 laptops wirelessly connected to the net.

On one of the laptops I attempted to install anti virus software and then it somehow wouldn't let me connect to the net. I then uninstalled the software. Now I have lost all the wireless stuff, the little icon in the bottom right hand corner doesn't come up and the light on the front of the laptop does show up (it is switched on) and then when I go into network connections the wireless icon isn't there any more so I can't search for an available network. Is there any way I can get this back or connect to the network another way?

Start by un-installing and then re-installing the adapter from within Device Manager.

What was this software and did you remove it completely?

it was just the wireless software that came with the laptop, it's an acer travelmate, i will try looking in the device manager.
