Lost search facility in address bar

Up until yesterday I could type a word in my IE6 address bar and it would automatically search for it on net.
Now when I type a word in the address bar it searches my C drive - not much help!

Can someone tell me how I get it back to how it was.
I'm running Windows XP.

Cheers.

Go to Internet options in the Tools menu
Then go to Advanced... in there you will see a toggle to disable or enable Address bar searching.

Did what you said but it still defaults to file:///C:/searchpage.html?page=searchword

Also my home page keeps defaulting to C:\searchpage.html even when I change it to Blank or a website.

Think I might have been infected?

Found the info required to fix it. Simply did a System Restore to the date previous to when the invading 'search.html' file was created and then deleted the file.

Thanks for your help.
