Help please I have just uninstalled NIS 2002 and all associated components pluse a couple of other unused programs using the add remove software. On restart I had a problem with an error symevnt.386 which I have now delet6ed from the registry following guidance on the Symantec site.

I now find that all bar three Folders remain in the Program Files folder all others missing.

Any advice please. It's a win 98 machine (1st Edition).

Thanks
Martyn

What do you see if you access a command prompt (Alt + R and type command, press return), and type `dir "c:\program files" /ah` ?

I have just entered the command prompt by holding down f8 on startup and used the scanreg/restore facility to restore the registry to yesterday. I now get the NIS error messages which I can tacke through the regedit facility to sort.

Could you clarify if you mean to try the same command and please clarify exactly what I type after the > symbol.

Thanks

Just let it load Windows and bring up a command prompt, not sure exactly how - Start Menu/Programs/MS-DOS Prompt?
Type

dir "c:\program files" /ah

No files?
What if you type

Dir progra~1

Tried that and ended up with the following (by the way the tilde symbol ~ was not horizontally alligned but near the top)

Volume in drive C has no label
Volume Serial Number is 07CE-061A
Directory of C:\Progra~1

. <DIR> 26/06/98 6:03
.. <DIR> 26/06/98 6:03
COMMON~1 <DIR> 26/06/98 6:03
SANDICON EXE 131,072 13/11/00 11:36
MSAPP~1 <DIR> 03/06/05 10:05
1 files(S) 131,072 BYTES
4 dir(s) 10,888.92 MB free

Doesn't look good does it?

Thanks
Martyn

Norton should be pulled up on this sort of thing.
