Lost password for IE8

  SB23 17:38 20 Jan 11

I've been adjusting some of my setting, and I've come across a little problem.
While working on the settings for Internet Explorer it asks me for a password with a hint, but I didn't set it, honest, and now IE8 isn't working.
Any easy ideas as it seems its not always possible to uninstall not to mention that it can upset Windows itself>

Have a look through this - and try to create your password. You can access Internet Options through the Control Panel

Under the content tab you should be able to disable the use of the content advisor

Thats the problem.
Without the correct password I can't get access to where I want to be, and I didn't set it in the first place.

May I suggest - under Tools - Internet Options - Advanced Tab you "reset" your "Internet Explorer Settings"

The reset has worked to get IE working again, but I still cannot access content advisor to enable it, without the password that I do not know.

As I said before you don't need the password to access the Internet Options window

I know, the content tab works but then its the content advisor to enable that is asking for a password.

Does this help click here - it should remove/reset the password "you never had"

Thanks for the link, although I'd seen the registry fix before, I was really trying to avoid it, but it does look like its my only option.
I'll have a read.
