lost memory

i have 384ram installed on my pc can anyone tell me why in system properties it says 368ram and in system info it says 384ram also aida32 says it's only 368.thanks

Sounds as if 16mb is being diverted to video memory - do you have onboard graphics?

What is recognised in the bios / at boot up? That will tell you the truth.

thanks for your reply have just been into the bios and it says 384ram installed and at boot up it says 364ram and yes,i do have onboard graphics is this why?

Yes. Onboard graphics takes some memory from the system RAM. Hence you can usually dedicate between 8 and 64 MB system RAM to video RAM.

It is not an issue unless you wish to play high intensity games.

for your replies my local pc shop said it wasnt reading the ram properly cos the cpu appeared to have been clocked!!! i did think it was the onboard graphics myself but when a shop tells you something your inclined to believe them-they're supposed to know more than me(which isnt a lot)thanks once again
