Hi Everyone,

Hoping you can help out here. I am on a friend's computer and for some months she has not been able to see an option for shut down or standby, can only log off or switch user. Is using Windows XP.

Any ideas, thoughts solutions would be really appreciated

Check in Power options if I remember correctly thats where I had to go to set the computer to Hibernate.
Worth a look anyway.
Can she right click the Taskbar and click on Taskmanager.
You can usually shut down from there if using XP.

Gives you a few choices here.

Maybe give Malwarebytes free a run just to make sure it is not a virus problem.

Has she got 'Fast User Switching' enabled?
that would give the screen that you describe.
click here for details, but do the reverse and turn off Fast User Switching.
