Currently running windows 2000,and acquired 2 viruses which were dealt with by Norton anti- virus

Now found that All the desktop icons, start menu etc have disapeared and need to go into the task manager each time to start up

Once this is done then everything works quite normally until shut down and then I have to go thu the whole process to start up again

Any ideas would be appreciated

try right clicking any empty area of the desktop.click "arrange icons by" and then click "show desktop icons"thats if you have xp.

in 2000 it may be right click the desktop "active desktop"and"show desktop icons" not sure.
