lost data (word doc)

A work college has had some trouble with his pc.after getting it back from a pc check up he has found that some of his wor documents have gone, so he tryed to us system restore only to find out that the restore had been turned off. he has asked me to find out if there is a program out there that will recover deleted word documents as he cannot restore to a previous date as there are no rstore piontd to go back to.any advice would be greatfull.

Sadly System Restore only restores system files, not word documents, pictures etc. that may have been deleted. The files may very well still be there, depending on what was done at the pc check up, and by whom. Normally the files would have been marked for deletion by replacing the first letter of the filename, usually with a $ sign. Try doing a search for one of the doc files, replacing the first letter with the $ sign.

(remove the asterisks to get the correct link)

Just remember not to carry out too much activity on the pc, windows has marked the area where the deleted files are for overwriting.

Try Drive Rescue click here - run it from a different drive, e.g. floppy.
