Lost all sound on realtek HD Audio

I appear to have lost all sound. Everythings plugged in fine, Realtek HD Audio manager is enabled, volume is up mixer all levels up. The speakers work because I get the test sound on the Realtek panel when I click on one of the side speakers (have 5.1) but the two rear, sub woofer and top speaker don't respond to the test. Any ideas?

Have you recently updated a driver from Microsoft Updates. Try "Rolling Back" the driver from Device Manager.

Have you configured the Realtek sound panel for 5.1 sound?

You may also have another programme or codecs package configuration set, for example, to 2.0 or 2.1.

Also check from Start>Settings>Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices that the General tab doesn't have Volume Muted and in the Audio and Video tabs that the Realtek HD onboard sound or sound card is the Default Device.
