Loss of power but M/B light still on. No POST

  Catastrophe 10:41 27 Oct 06

Having got previous problwm sorted I got distracted and made a big mistake. I pushed a card in whilst some power was still on and now I get M/B light but no POST and the fans turn but stop almost immediately. Have I finished my M/B or maybe worse as well?

Any advice gratefully received.

Does it run without the card? fans still turn etc.

No. I have taken the card out and situation was as above.

Remove everything except cpu graphics card(if needed) and one stick of memory and attempt to boot, if you don't get fans running and error message about hard drive missing the CPU PSU or board is fried.
Substitution is then the only way to pin it down further.

Definitely looks like an ID ten T error.

No good. Will try substitution.

Thanks for your help.

Fruit Bat

Will it be one of these only or possibly two (or three)?

Could be one or if unlucky board and cpu.

OK. Thanks.

Makes a difference on substitution.

One in 3 is 1 in 3.

Two from 6 is 3 but needs 2 substitutions.
