Can any 1 suggest a easy, but hard to crack code to use for protecting some content of a site for members only?

I have seen lots, but which one???

but it all depends on the site, if you're going to be asking the General Public to subscribe, then a database and php would be a good way..

All they have to do is match it up with what's in the db then away they go.

It will be for members only, not for the general public to enter. I would need to put shared projects and documents of a non-sensitive type.

then HTACCESS would be the way for you..Just give a username and password to your members.
