...Mostly for surfing the internet, downloading/storing music and videos, moderately concerned with games, some word processing etc - around 500-600 price range

I've looked at quite a few but this one looks decent value:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2GHz CPU
- 1 GB DDR400 PC3200 RAM
- 250GB SATA Hard Drive
- 256MB PCI Express NVidia GeForce 7600GS Graphics Card
- 16x DVD+/-RW +/- DL Drive
- 52-in-1 Flash Memory Card Reader
- Nvidia NForce 4 Motherboard
- 7 USB Ports
- Giga LAN
- 5.1 Realtek Surround Sound
- 17" AOC LM765 LCD Monitor, 8ms Response Rate
- Microsoft Wired Keyboard & Mouse Set
- Windows XP Home

Do you think it's good value, can you recommend better ?

Cheers.

Forum members regularly ask this sort of question.

You will probably now receive several conflicting points of view and be more confused than ever. ;-)

There are really only two points of view to consider - what does your heart tell you is best and what does your wallet tell you is best.

DO you think it's a decent deal though ?

  Killuminati 16:24 02 Jun 06

it's priced at 585 quid by the way

Posting three questions on the same subject in different forum sections, rather than just one in Consumerwatch, doesn't help.

Mate, do be so pedantic.

More questions asked = more chance of answers

sp * don't

It's against forum guidlines and etiquette to make duplicate posts.

You think it's a good deal though ?

  ade.h 17:36 02 Jun 06

Very good, I think. But you haven't stated the exact price, only your budget range.

It's good enough for the money, but sounds like old tech to me, isn't the 7600gs an agp card?

Which limits you if and when you want to upgrade the graphics.
