A long shut down

xp pro takes over 2 mins to shut down.any help please.

Wouldn't worry about it myself. Two minutes is not very long - it only seems that way because you are sitting there waiting (akin to a watched kettle never boils)

You are likely to cause far more problems trying to sort it out than the "inconvenience" of having to wait a short time for it to shut off.

A very similar problem for me using Win 2000 Pro.

Cured by examining Event Viewer for the earliest date that an error was logged.
Then uninstalled the Hotfix imediately prior to that error.
Normal shutdown interval resumed.

The error concerned failed action on a network that I do not have!
