Long delays in sending group emails

I have Win XP, Eudora as my e-mail client, Firenet as my ISP.
In the past couple of days I have suddenly experienced long delays in sending e-mail messages to groups of between 20 and 70 addresses, using BCC. I have Norton antivirus and am wondering if a recent update is causing the problem. It looks as though every single address is being checked at length. This morning I sent a simple message (text in the body of the e-mail) to 20 people and it took about 20 minutes to send. It doesn't seem to matter whether or not there is an attachment. Messages to individuals go as n ormal. Any help appreciated.

You could disable outgoing mail scanning on Norton and see if it helps.

Thanks, but disabling Norton doesn't make any difference. Any further ideas?

My ISP changed the dial up number and that seems to have solved the problem.
