Logitech X-530 Setup

Hello, I recently bought the Logitech X-530 Speaker System for my PC but am having trouble getting the rear and center speakers to work.
I have input the coloured jacks into the appropriate sockets on my tower but, only the 2 front speakers work.
I don't know the make of my motherboard but my PC is a Dell.
I am running Windows Vista & have also checked that all the speakers are not faulty by testing them with my MP3 Player.
Any advise will be much appreciated :)

Within the sound / multimedia applet in the control panel, is there a setting for 5.1 sound? My creative sound card allows you to test each speaker - is there something similar with the dell?

In the speaker properties in the advanced tab, there is a test for the speakers rate and bit depth, but all of the settings only make the front 2 speakers work

Does the machine have 5.1 output? If you give the exact model of the pc, someone may be able to clarify the situation for you.
