logging onto xp pro - error mesage

  noddy2121 11:08 14 Dec 05

when i try and log onto my windows xp pro computer which is on a network i get the following message.

"A problem is preventing windows from accuratly checking the license for this computer"

I click ok and it logs me back off, so i cannot log into my computer, it does the same in safe mode.

The only time this does not happen is when i log onto the computer locally and not onto the domain.

It is ok for me to log on locally because i am a technician, but other users cannot do this.

any suggestions please

This generally occurs when xp has not been activated within the 15 day period from install.

You can try a reinstall of the OS or try this

Copy the file c:\windows\system32\wpa.dbl to a floppy.

Reinstall Windows XP.

Boot to a DOS disk if you are using FAT, or to the Recovery Console if using NTFS.

Copy the file from the first step above back to c:\windows\system32.
