log records

I am looking for a free or cost effective way of recording what my PC is doing. As I am getting intermitment re-boots. I can be using it for 20 minutes, or more. But then into power saving mode, and re-booting. I have checked everything, and even swapped harddrives, and re-installed OS. IT has happened only once since I have done this. And I wasn't in the room!!! On the re-instal I have only installed an anti-virus, MS defender, and Web SEO...Was running SEO left the room and came back, and PC had re-booted. But I was downloading many XP updates etc.

So I need a way of listing what the PC is doing, to see if when it re-boots, it is the same thing.

cheers in advance.
