Hi, please help a friend of mine. When he switches on his computer it starts to load, XP home, gets to the windows loading screen, ie with the bar going across the bottom. This eventually goes to a blank blue screen with just one button at the bottom, which is " turn off computer".Normally he has 3 user accounts so he has to enter his password etc,but he cannot get to this screen.I advised him to press F8 on bootup and try last known good configuration, but that was no different. Anyone know what is happening, and if he could get into safe mode would that help.Cheers,Trev.

Press F8 at startup until the menu comes

Hi, yes he has pressed F8 and got to the menu, then pressed last known good configuration but he still cannot get past the blank blue screen.

Safe mode should be one of the options along with last known good configuration.

Try Safe Mode with Command Prompt then at the > prompt type

to launch System Restore.
