locking up

Hi can anyone help me i have a xp2500 barton on a asus a7v8x-x m/b 1 gig ram leadtek fx5600 256mb a310td gfh card 80hd 550watt p/s running xp home, my problem is that it locks up not sure what the problem isas it happens randomly i can be using it all day and it doesnt happen then i can turn it on and within 5 mins it will lock up,i have checked for virus`s etc. but nothing there it doesnt matter what im running e.g. game or just on desktop it will do it any ideas? as i have run out!!

Does Event Log show any errors? click Start, Run, type eventvwr.msc and press Enter.

Check the system log and application log to see if there are errors. Double click error items and see if it throws any light.

If not, check you memory. Try leaving only one module in, and see how it works.
