Local Printer with VPN

I use a VPN to log onto the corporate network at home. I would like to use a local home printer but cannot access home-network devices due to the VPN security. I do have a spare laser printer but this can't be located within easy distance of my office for a dedicated parallel wired connection so would need to be accessed wirlessly ideally. Are there any devices that would allow me to set up the printer as a dedicated device via a wireless connection from my pc's parallel port (or a USB port)? The printer has both parallel and network RJ45 connectability. Switching between VPN and home network is cumbersome and risky, usually resulting in the pc 'locking up'.
