local area conection

i have 2 nic cards in my pc, if i look at them in network connection i see them both but each has a lock just above them.
they are not connected to anything at the moment.
i am geting bt broadband next week so i am woundering if that lock would go when connected or would i have to remove or unlock it, thanks for any help

When you get your BT, call them and they will guide you through this.

You can also run the network connection wizard and set up another, once working delete the old ones.

I think i found the answer, just in case someone else wanted to know, here it is.

The lock in the upper-right hand corner of the icon means that Windows
Firewall is enabled. You can change it by enabling or disabling Windows
Firewall in the connection's settings window.
