i recently bought my daughter a pc off ebay, it does not have an os loaded on it so i tried loading my copy of xp, this disc was supplied when i bought my pc and was pre-installed.
it started loading ok but has come up with "fatal error". how do i rectify this or how do i remove it to install windows 98?
I would be very grateful for any advice

you may want to do scan disk from dos to check drive for bad sectors. as this could be the reason it would not install allso d/l docmemory and test the ram.
since its and ebay thing open case clean dust out.

It is illegal to install a Windows disk on more than one PC. Unless you uninstall it from yours first.

Office is different - you can install on one desktop and one on laptop (as long as not used simultaneously).
