Loading Dell OE issue OS discs on non-Dell PC ?

I've got a set of Win 2000 discs that came with my Dell laptop and want to install them onto a desktop I own. I've been told they may not run on a non-Dell PC. Any clues?

What you are wanting to do is prohibited by the licence that came with you Win2k cd's if, as you say, they were supplied with the laptop. These discs will be OEM and therefore the licence is not transferrable.

As above, unless, of course, you paid Dell for a retail copy of the OS disks.

If you did this then, providing you remove the os from the laptop, you can legally install to your desktop.
